Ganga Aarti Mahotsav

While the daily Ganga Aarti at Rishikesh is a spiritual experience in itself, the Ganga Aarti Mahotsav during Kartik Purnima (November full moon) elevates it to a grand spectacle. Thousands of devotees gather at Triveni Ghat and Parmarth Niketan for an extended aarti ceremony. Hundreds of priests perform the aarti simultaneously with massive brass lamps, while devotees float thousands of diyas (oil lamps) on the Ganges. Devotional music, bhajans, and Vedic mantras echo across the river. The reflection of thousands of lamps on the flowing Ganges creates an unforgettable sight. Special yagnas (fire ceremonies) and meditation sessions are also organized.
