The Syalde Bikhauti Fair is one of the oldest and most vibrant fairs of the Kumaon region, held annually at Deopura and Hawalbagh near Almora on the occasion of Bikhauti (Baisakhi). The fair's highlight is the Devidhura-style Bagwal - a traditional stone-pelting ritual between two groups representing different historical clans. Though now largely symbolic, this ritual has ancient roots in the region's warrior traditions. The fair also features the famous Jhora dance circles where men and women dance together singing folk songs. Wrestling competitions (dangal), local handicraft exhibitions, and traditional Kumaoni food stalls attract thousands of visitors. The Syalde temple of Goddess Golu Devta is the focal point of the celebrations.
