About the Trek

A spectacular trek from Gangotri to the lush alpine meadow of Tapovan at 4,463m, situated at the foot of the majestic Shivling peak (6,543m). The trail passes through Gaumukh, the snout of the Gangotri Glacier and the origin of the River Ganges.

Things to Carry

Heavy warm clothing, trekking shoes, sleeping bag, tent, trekking poles, sunglasses, sunscreen, water purification, first aid kit, altitude medicine

Permits Required

Inner Line Permit required from Uttarkashi SDM office. Forest permit from Uttarkashi Forest Division. Fees approximately INR 150 (Indian), INR 600 (foreigner).
